Strengthen the Role of Green Campus, Environmental Engineering UIN Malang Initiates Pondok Pesantren Sanitation Education with DLH of Malang City

FST UIN Maliki Malang – (02/04/2026) The Environmental Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, initiated sanitation education and coordination activities for Islamic boarding schools as part of strengthening the role green campus. The event titled UIN Malang Strengthens Role of Green Campus: Environmental Engineering Initiates Pesantren Sanitation Education with Malang City DLH This is located in the Main Meeting Room of the Malang City Environmental Agency.

This activity was attended by 21 participants consisting of representatives from the Malang City Environmental Agency (DLH), representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Malang City (Head of Islamic Boarding Schools Section), lecturers from the Environmental Engineering Study Program, representatives from the Quality Assurance Unit (UPM) of the Faculty of Science and Technology, and representatives from various Islamic boarding schools in the Malang City area.

This activity is motivated by the importance of improving the quality of environmental health in Islamic boarding schools, especially concerning clean water and sanitation management. Furthermore, this activity is also part of the implementation of community service programs carried out by the Environmental Engineering Study Program in collaboration with the Malang City Environmental Agency.

In its implementation, the activity focused on technical coordination and interactive discussions between the academic team and stakeholders. These discussions addressed the current conditions related to water quality and sanitation in each Islamic boarding school, as well as identifying various challenges and needs faced in the field.

The chief coordinator of the activity, Lusi Ulisfah, M.T., stated that this activity is a first step in building synergy between higher education institutions, the government, and the community in efforts to improve the environmental quality of Islamic boarding schools. Through this forum, it is hoped that applicable and sustainable strategic steps can be formulated for better sanitation management.

Through this activity, the Environmental Engineering Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang affirms its commitment to making a tangible contribution to the development of a healthy and sustainable environment. Furthermore, the synergy that is built is expected to strengthen the role of higher education as an agent of change in supporting the improvement of the community's quality of life, especially within pesantren environments.
