FST UIN Maliki Malang - (11/12/2025) A lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Dr. Usman Pagalay, M.Si, was trusted to be an external examiner in the Doctoral Promotion Session of the Environmental Science Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University.

The open session was held with promovenda on behalf of Yuni Yulida. The dissertation tested was entitled “Mathematical Model of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Disease Spread in View of Environmental Factors.” Dr. Usman Pagalay was present with other examiners to assess and review the substance of the research.

The study discusses the relationship between environmental factors and the pattern of Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) disease spread, which is analyzed using a mathematical modeling approach. The model developed is used to describe the dynamics of transmission and become the basis for disease control efforts.

Dr. Usman Pagalay said that mathematical modeling can help understand public health problems in a more measurable way. According to him, an interdisciplinary approach is needed so that research results can be utilized more widely.

The participation of UIN Malang lecturers as external examiners is considered to strengthen academic cooperation between universities. This also shows the scientific contribution of UIN Malang Mathematics Study Program lecturers at the national level.

The leadership of the Faculty of Science and Technology UIN Malang welcomes the involvement of lecturers in doctoral promotion trials at other universities. This activity is considered as part of the role of lecturers in the development of science and higher education. (Beautiful)
