One of the activities of urban communities to improve the economy is urban farming. Urban farming can run well influenced by the activeness of individuals or groups who are members of agricultural activities. Innovation activities through the urban farming program that will be carried out are the identification of design concepts and function concepts in the arrangement of urban agricultural cultivation land (urban farming) on an environmental scale, architectural and structural design and calculation of the Budget Plan (RAB) on the arrangement of urban agricultural cultivation land (urban farming) on an environmental scale and the concept of community empowerment in the urban farming program.

The innovation program initiated by the Architecture Study Program was carried out in RT 05 and RW 08 Samaan Village, Klojen District, Malang City. The innovation resulted in the design concept of vegetable cultivation land with a combination of catfish kale (lekung) and compost house (rukom) by utilizing the potential and adjusting the existing conditions on the existing land including: lay out arrangement patterns, making green house shelters in the form of buildings with bamboo structures that function for catfish-kale cultivation and compost houses.
