FST-UIN Malang (07/05/2023) A very proud achievement for the Faculty of Science and Technology, especially for the Department of Architecture at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, where in 2023 the Journal of Islamic Architecture (JIA) won the title of Q1 (Quartile 1). The Quartile 1 (Q1) category, as is well known, is the level of Scopus International journals with the highest predicate and has the greatest influence among other categories. This is because when we give an example of 100 international journals indexed by Scopus within the scope of a particular field, journals with Q1 predicate will be ranked from 1-25 or can be referred to as the top 25 journals. It can be said that the achievement of Q1 is the first at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang after previously the highest achievement for the journal category was achieved by the Journal of Islamic Arabic Learning which was accredited Sinta 1 and indexed by ESCI (WoS).

The process for JIA to achieve the title of Q1 (Quartile 1) certainly has a very long historical journey not an instant process. In its history JIA was established in 2010 at that time the form was still printed, only a few years of development formed the Open Journal System (OJS) portal. The submission process to submit scopus was actually in 2013 with minimal preparation and the result was that the JIA journal was rejected by scopus. With the failure of the submission process to scopus, of course, it did not discourage the team, especially in the Architecture department of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The journal management team took steps to encourage themselves to implement journal articles in JIA in English. Only in 2016 did JIA carry out accreditation which received a B result. These results are quite proud as well as a motivator for the team to further improve their achievements again until finally in 2018 they dared to submit again to Scopus. The journey from submitting to accept is quite long with various stories, only in 2020 it was finally accepted in October and ranked Q3. Getting the Q3 ranking can be said to be the fuel for the team to continue to improve in the process of managing journals with their scientific publications that they always update until at the peak in May 2023 the scimago updated the data and JIA managed to achieve the Q1 predicate.

A warm and very enthusiastic welcome for the academic community at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang with the achievements achieved by the JIA journal, especially the leaders also gave appreciation. It is hoped that in the future with the start of JIA getting the Q1 title, it can have a positive impact on the academic environment at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and become a trigger for enthusiasm for other journals to improve in management management and increase publications.
