FST UIN Maliki Malang - (26/09/2025) The Mathematics Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang successfully held a Guest Lecture with the theme "Career Opportunities for Mathematics Graduates" on Friday, September 26, 2025. This activity took place in the Auditorium of BJ Habibie Building, 4th floor and was officially opened by the Vice Dean I of FST, Prof. Dr. Evika Sandi Savitri.
In her speech, Prof. Evika emphasized the importance of mastering mathematics which is not only relevant in the academic realm, but also as the main capital in various modern industrial sectors, such as data science and financial technology. She also invited students to start designing career paths early on in order to face challenges in an increasingly dynamic world of work.
The guest lecture presented the main speaker, Mohammad Iqbal, Ph.D., from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya. Dr. Iqbal delivered an in-depth insight into the role and opportunities of mathematics graduates in today's job market. He highlighted that the ability to think logically, analytically, and problem-solving skills are qualities that are in high demand by leading companies. In addition, Dr. Iqbal shared his research results to inspire students to be active in conducting impactful research.
This guest lecture session also discussed specific career opportunities that many students may not know about. Dr. Iqbal motivated the participants to continue to hone additional competencies that are in line with the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, such as communication skills and continuous self-development, in order to have added value in the professional world.
This activity is mandatory for all students of the UIN Malang Mathematics Study Program, especially the class of 2022, as part of efforts to prepare graduates who are ready to compete globally. Students' enthusiasm can be seen from the active question and answer session that took place, showing their commitment in planning their future careers.
Through this activity, the Mathematics Study Program of FST UIN Malang reaffirms its commitment to produce graduates who not only excel in science, but also have a clear career orientation and are ready to face the challenges of the times. (Beautiful)
