
The increasing awareness of the Muslim community to consume halal products lately has contributed to the development of the halal food industry phenomenon (halal food). The halal status of a food product is not only limited to the type of food, but also includes the processing process and also the equipment used in the processing. Canteen is any commercial business whose scope of activities is to provide food and drinks at its place of business. The food provided in the canteen must comply with hygiene standards and provide halal food, and be safe for consumption by its consumers. Muslim communities tend to choose products that clearly label their products as halal. However, not all of these culinary business actors understand the whole process of producing halal products, both in terms of raw materials, processing and equipment used in the process.
The command to eat halal and good (thoyyib) food has also been mentioned in the Qur'an, QS. Al-Maidah: 88 which reads:
And eat lawful and wholesome food from that which Allah has provided for you, and fear Allah, in whom you believe.
Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University Malang is one of the PTKIN under the Ministry of Religious Affairs which is closely related to the halal food phenomenon. As an educational institution, the existence of canteens in several campus areas is a crucial need. The canteen stake holders in this campus environment need to understand the whole process of producing halal products, both in terms of raw materials, processing and equipment used in the process.
The vision of this innovation is to make the Halal and Thayyib Education Canteen to Support the Realization of a Quality Academic Community in the Uin Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Environment. While the mission of the halal canteen innovation as a medium for learning halal and thayyib for the academic community of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, providing halal, thayyib and hygienic food and drinks at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and creating an educational canteen environment as an environment that supports the academic atmosphere for the academic community of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
