FST UIN Maliki Malang - (10/10/2025) The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang strengthened synergy with the Batu City Environmental Agency (DLH) through an official visit held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Batu City DLH Office. This activity is part of a joint initiative to strengthen the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the fields of education, research, and community service.
The FST delegation led by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Akyunul Jannah, along with the Head and Secretary of the Environmental Engineering Study Program were warmly welcomed by the Head of DLH Batu City, Dian Fachroni. During the meeting, both parties discussed various potential collaborations that could support scientific development while answering practical needs in the surrounding environment.
One of the main agendas in this meeting was the plan to involve DLH Batu City in the curriculum review process of the Environmental Engineering Study Program. The Head of DLH Batu City is proposed to be a member of the Advisory Board of the study program, which will play a role in providing strategic input and supervision of the compiled curriculum. This aims to ensure that the lecture material remains relevant, applicable, and in line with the dynamics and real challenges in the environmental field.
In addition to the Environmental Engineering Study Program, this activity also opens up opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The Chemistry Study Program with an Environmental Chemistry specialization, Biology with a Conservation specialization, and Architectural Engineering which focuses on urban planning and structuring, are considered to have great potential to contribute to various DLH Batu City programs. With this collaboration, it is hoped that an academic ecosystem will be formed that is not only superior in theory, but also strong in practice and social contribution.
"This activity is a strategic step to integrate the academic world with public policy, so that research and innovation produced by universities can provide direct benefits to society," said Dian. Through this partnership, FST UIN Malang and DLH Batu City agreed to continue to establish communication and sustainable cooperation to support environmentally sound and scientifically based regional development. This step is expected to be the initial step for a broader synergy between universities and local governments in creating sustainable solutions to various environmental challenges in Batu City and its surroundings.
