Prepare Future Leaders, Dozens of Student Activists of FST UIN Malang Undergo Retreat at Pusdikarhanud.

Malang - Head of Ormawa (Student Organization) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang participated in retreat activities at the Air Defense Artillery Education Center (Pusdikarhanud) TNI AD (13/1). The activity which was attended by 63 participants was opened directly by the rector of UIN Malang, Ilfi Nur Diana with the theme of Catalys for Change: Empowering Student Movement. In his speech, he emphasized that student leadership is not solely determined by position, but by the ability to influence, build character, and maintain commitment in running the organization. “There are several important aspects to build good leadership, including position, permission, production, people development, and personhood,” he said.

According to the rector, effective leaders are those who are able to set an example as well as mobilize members of the organization. He emphasized the importance of a balance between competence, character, and commitment as the foundation of student leadership. The concept is summarized in the 3C approach (Competency, Character, Commitment) which became one of the main materials in the retreat.

The retreat participants consisted of the Head of the Student Council, the Head of the Student Senate, the Head of the Study Program Student Association (HMPS), and the Head of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) in the faculty and university environment. In the opening ceremony, all leaders at the university and faculty levels were also present. Head of Education (Kabagdik) Pusdikarhanud, Lieutenant Colonel Arh Muda Setyawan, S.I.P., M.I.P., also expressed his views. He appreciated the organization of the retreat which was considered a strategic step in preparing future leaders from among students. “Early leadership development is important so that students grow into leaders with integrity, responsibility, and social sensitivity,” he said.

For students, this retreat is a space for learning leadership as well as reflecting on the role of students in managing organizations responsibly. The material presented is expected to strengthen students' ability to make decisions, build teamwork, and develop organizational members. Through this retreat, students are expected to increase their commitment in strengthening student leadership development that is oriented towards character, professionalism, and readiness to face future challenges.
