Strengthening Applicative Material, Library and Information Science Study Program Holds Field Lecture at Bung Karno Proclamator Library

FST UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang - (01/10/2025) Coinciding with the commemoration of Pancasila Miracle Day, the Library and Information Science Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology held a field study for the Network and Cooperation of Information Institutions course. The activity took place at the Bung Karno Proclamator Library, one of the institutions that is full of historical values and plays an important role in preserving the nation's cultural heritage. A total of 77 students participated in this activity, accompanied by the lecturer and several other lecturers.

The activity began with remarks from Hendriyanto, S.IP., M.IP., a representative of Bung Karno Library, who welcomed the students enthusiastically. In his direction, he emphasized the importance of the younger generation understanding the nation's history through information institutions such as libraries, as well as encouraging the use of Bung Karno Library facilities and collections to deepen knowledge about the struggle for Indonesian independence.

Representatives of the Library and Information Science Study Program also delivered remarks, emphasizing the urgency of continuous collaboration between information institutions and the world of education. Through the field study experience, students are expected to broaden their horizons and understand more deeply the strategic role of libraries in maintaining and disseminating the nation's historical information.

Entering the core session, Hendriyanto, S.IP., M.IP. explained the profile of the Bung Karno Proclamator Library and the landscape of cooperation that has been established with various partners. He comprehensively explained the practice of collaboration from technical aspects to services, including collection development with educational institutions, archival institutions, and historical organizations to enrich books and important documents related to Indonesian history - especially those related to Bung Karno. In the field of services, the library actively networks to strengthen membership, mobile libraries, library guidance, rare collection management, and other services that are all based on partnerships. One of the key strategies emphasized is the building of extensive networks with institutional and individual partners.

The next session presented the material "Ke-Bung Karno-an" by Budi Kastowo, S.E. He reviewed Bung Karno's life journey from childhood to becoming a charismatic national leader, presenting inspiring stories about resilience in facing the challenges of the times and visionary ideas that helped lay the foundation of the state. This presentation enriches students' perspectives, not only seeing Bung Karno as a political figure, but also a figure who made a major contribution to nation building.

The event was closed with a dynamic discussion and question and answer session. Students actively dig up information about the Bung Karno Library cooperation model as well as Bung Karno's thoughts and examples. The momentum of the commemoration of Pancasila Miracle Day provides additional meaning, emphasizing the importance of national values in the learning process.

Through this field course, the Library and Information Science Study Program strengthens the material in an applicative manner while affirming its commitment to prepare graduates who are historically sensitive, capable of collaborating, and ready to contribute to information management and preservation of the nation's collective memory.
